My Reporting Blog

I love this blog so much. It gives me the freedom to write out my thoughts in regards to reporting. I can't wait to publish more posts along my reporting journey.

A Reporter as my Mentor

I have a mentor and her name is Neki Mohan. She is a reporter and an anchorwoman for WPLG Local 10 News.

We met through Women of Tomorrow and have remained in contact ever since. She's been a great mentor to me in regards to what I can do to be a better reporter.

Favorite Attire While Reporting

My favorite look while I'm reporting is a dress and a blazer with heels or flats. I feel the most comfortable in that attire. I can move around more and focus on the task at hand.

Plans on Attending the NABJ Convention next year

I've been thinking and really considering in attending the National Association for Black Journalists Convention next year in Louisiana.

I'm searching for tickets to book and outfits to wear. And you know I can't forget my business cards!

Networking as a Reporter

Networking as a reporter has been an adventurous experience. I've had the pleasure of dining with an anchorwoman before and the talk over lunch has been a wonderful experience!

I can't wait to meet more journalists and reporters!

Why I love Reporting

I love reporting because I love the art of storytelling. I love grabbing the facts and details of an event or situation and creating a wonderful piece for the audience to understand.

This is why I love reporting.

Challenges to Overcome as a Reporter

One of the challenges I face as a reporter is pitching a good story to report on. It takes a lot of pre-reporting for the news director and the producer to give me the go-ahead and complete the story.

Pitching a great story is an area that I need to work on. I know that the internship next semester will make sure I'm efficient in pitching and reporting stories.

I'm eager to meet and network with other reporters in the news station!

Looking Forward as A Reporter

I can't wait to see what the future holds for me as a reporter. Writing and engaging with others is a great feeling for me. Being a reporter and writing stories for the audience is a thrill for me.

I'm excited to show my talents to the world!

CRC Diversity Career Showcase

I attended the CRC Diversity Career Showcase looking to seek employment from those seeking someone who had skills in communications.

I networked and met many employers across the nation. Hopefully everything works out for for the future.

WUFT-TV Auditions

I was excited practicing and auditioning for WUFT-TV. Hard work pays off because I was chose to be one of the News in 90 anchors next semester!

My time slot will be Mondays from 7am to 11pm. Woot! Woot!

Internship at WJCB-TV 20 in 2017!

I am so excited to to start my new internship at WCJB-TV20 in January! This will be my second internship as an undergraduate. I am so fortunate to have the experience of being an intern because many people have to work hard to get there foot in the door to receive an internship.

I would like to thank those who played a role in me receiving this internship!

The Blueprint Session

Two panorama pics have been taken during a session called "The Blueprint." It's a development program to aid African-American men in their collegiate endeavors.

It helps men in any career field, even the career field I'm in. Even though I'm a woman, I believe it is best to shed light on all events that is being held on campus.

Meet the author

Hello all! Welcome to my blog! I am an aspiring reporter. My goal is to be an international reporter one day! Here, I will blog about my journey as a reporter. Or in this case, when I am interning and volunteering my way to cultivate the skills for reporting! I am excited and so should you!

So often we see the final product of what the reporter shows to the viewers with their packages on television, but little do they see the grind and the hard work reporters put in for their final work to look as good as it does for the audience. The purpose for my blog is to be the focal point of my journey as a reporter.
Welcome and get comfortable, you will be in for a ride! Let the blogging commence!

Here's a picture of how excited I am to start this blog:
